March 2022

Life has been crazy for all of us the last two years. Many of us have lost people we loved, some from this horrible pandemic and others from something else, and in some cases, without the ability to say goodbye. Things are starting to look up in this regard, but now we have bigger problems to worry about with the potential of another World War. If life has taught me anything, it has taught us to appreciate every single day and let those you love know how you feel. Never take it for granted, as there is no going back. Don’t let fear run your life, but always be aware and take precautions to protect yourself and those you love.

With that being said, it is time to start to enjoy life each and every day. Look at the simple things and thank God for each and every one of them – from the flowers, birds, bees, and trees to your family and friends, as well as your pets. Have an extra slice of cake, or enjoy that meal and savor it a bit longer. Take an extra moment to enjoy the smells, feel, and tastes of those special things. Life is so precious, and sometimes we are so caught up in our hectic schedules that we forget to appreciate the small and wonderful things that make it so worthwhile.

Lent is here, and more than ever, this is the time to understand what sacrifices Jesus made for us so that we can all be saved. Think of how much pain he endured, and how much his Mother Mary and his friends also went through. In His honor, take a moment to do something special for someone else. While man of us give us something for Lent, doing something special for a person or animal in need can be just as wonderful, maybe even more so. Let’s take a moment to help those less fortunate in any way we can, and see how good it makes us feel. Give compliments, even to strangers. You never know if they are having a bad day, and that one small thing can change its direction to a positive one. Then when we see these wonderful Spring flowers poking through the ground, we will truly know how the small things in life, such as small acts of kindness, can actually lead to beauty in its own way.

Happy Lent to all. Stay safe, and enjoy your life!
