Happy 2023 to All!

Life itself has not returned to the life we all knew pre-Covid, but is much better than it was that first year, and I suspect this will be our new normal going forward. We still need to be careful when out in public, and even around anyone we know who is ill. But now, at least, we can visit our family and friends again and spend time with those we love. We are no longer housebound and can move about freely in the outdoors. These are all things to be so grateful for. In nothing else, Covid has reminded/taught us all to not take the simple things in life for granted. With all of this in mind, let’s make a sincere resolution to visit those we care about more often, and if you can’t, make a phone call to say hi. Tell those you love that you do love them. Forgive freely, as none of us is perfect and we all make mistakes. Take time to enjoy the little moments in life, whether that is the birds singing, a nature walk, time to go dancing, or walking your dog; anything that makes you happy and eliminates a little stress. As most of us were brought up to do, let’s go back to treating others the way we want to be treated. Do something nice for a total stranger – you will be surprised how good it will make you feel. Pay it forward when someone does something nice for you.

Most of all, remember to thank God, or whatever higher power you believe in, for all the good people in your life. Take a moment each day to pray, even if it a short silent prayer. Pray for the innocent people living in the Ukraine, and any area that is in war or suffering from poverty. Help those who are unfortunate, whether through donations, spending time talking with them, or physically helping them. And pray for our country, that we stop all this fighting, discrimination and violence and learn to co-exist peacefully and happily

Thank you all for being there for me and for each other. Our St. Patrick’s family is the best! Stay safe and blessed.
